TGCA Show FAQ
What do I need to bring my US horse to Canada for your show?
You must have a current international health certificate (valid for 30 days) and a current Equine Infectious Anemia (Coggins) test (valid for six months).

Where can I get an international health certificate?
Your veterinarian can issue an international health certificate. They will need to submit it to USDA to have it endorsed. This can be done electronically.

What happens when I get to the border?
When you arrive at the border with your horse you will be considered commercial (this is the same if you are entering Canada or the US). You will cross with the transport trucks and not the cars. You should have copies of your certificates. You will give one to the Canadian border agent - or US border agent if they ask. If you are crossing in Windsor you MUST use the bridge.

Do I need to see a Canadian Veterinarian?
Your border guard may not be aware, but you do not need to see a CFIA veterinarian if you are bringing your horse into Canada on a temporary basis.

Note:
I cross from Canada to the US frequently during the year and it is generally a very simple and straight forward process. Please feel free to call me with any questions. (519) 996-5837
